Dear Birth Mother,
We are Brian and Katie. Thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit about us and our story. We can only imagine the strength it has taken to make this decision. We admire your courage and would love the opportunity to get to know you.
Brian and I met in college through a mutual friend. After 18 months of dating, Brian proposed on a beach in Florida. We married in January of 2005 at the Boise Train Depot. That was 13 years ago and it has been a crazy and fun adventure. In those 13 years we have finished college, bought a house, sold a house and moved to Europe. In 2015 we returned to the states and have settled into our life here in Idaho.
Brian was born in Connecticut and shortly after his parents divorced so he split his time between Texas and Connecticut. He has an older brother, a younger brother and two younger sisters. All of his siblings live in other states but we get together at least once a year as a group. Brian is currently working in human resources and loves working with people and encouraging them in their current roles. He is also a volleyball coach at one of the high schools here. In his free time he loves to get outside whether it is riding his bike, playing in a grass volleyball tournament or doing yard work.
Katie was born and raised in Idaho and most of her family is still near by. She has one younger brother who recently married. Katie is an elementary teacher and could not imagine a better job. She loves going to work every day and seeing what her students accomplish that day.
In her free time she loves to read, organize and spend time outside with Brian. She recently got an electric bike so she can keep up with him on bike rides.
We live in an amazing, family oriented neighborhood with walking paths, parks and schools close by. Evenings are often filled with the sounds of kids riding their bikes, building forts and playing basketball in driveways. Our home comes with two dogs (Jeeter and Sada) both named after players from Brian’s favorite team, The New York Yankees.
Adoption has been a desire for Brian and me for a long time. Early into our marriage fertility issues caused us to take a deeper look at our desire for adoption. In 2010 we decided to become foster parents and for the next two years we had 10 different children come and live with us. It was this experience that solidified our decision to adopt.
In 2012 we moved to Romania and had hoped to adopt while living there but the international laws changed and that was no longer an option.
If you choose us to parent your child, we want you to know we see this child as a precious gift from God. We seek to love and care for this child just as God has done for us. If you are open to it, we would also welcome the opportunity to get to know you. We are excited to expand our family, and thank you for taking the time to read a little of our story.
With love and gratitude,
Brian and Katie
