Eli and I met nine and half years ago at a concert. For months, he was the guy singing on stage, and I was the girl dreaming of how we would end up together someday. After months of hoping he would talk to me, I decided it may never happen and started to move on from that dream. However, just as I was about to move on, of course he would notice me! A mutual friend of ours introduced us at a concert for another friend, and we have been by each other’s side ever since.
In our early dating years, I was his biggest fan at every concert, and he was mine for my passion with photography. We grew closer over the years through our love for Jesus, ministry, and food (we are huge foodies). Three and half years into dating,
Eli took me to my favorite beach in Marin where you could see the Golden Gate Bridge to ask me to marry him. I said “yes” right away and immediately called everyone I knew to tell them the good news. Eli took me into San Francisco that day and was so excited that he told everyone that we walked by that I was his fiancée. It was one of the sweetest memories I have of that day, even though I was so embarrassed when it was happening.
Fast forward to almost a year later and we were married! We got married in front of a lake with many willow trees behind us, surrounded by our amazing family and friends. Since Eli and I love music, we wrote a song together about our relationship and love for each other that we sang for everyone there that day.
We later went on to record an album and included that song on it.
Eli insisted I still sing my part, even though I tried to tell him I am more of a song writer than a singer. He is my biggest fan in every part of life, and I am his. I think our love for each other, Jesus, and others makes us a great team.
A note about Eli from Jana: Eli works as a worship leader and young adults pastor at our church, The Bridge. Eli loves people with his whole heart and is one of the most loyal people I have ever met. He also has the best sense of humor.
He makes me laugh every day. He loves music, has a majestic voice, and plays four instruments. Eli loves all things related to the warriors and basketball. He would eat pizza every day if he could, but is married to me, so most nights we eat pretty healthy to keep our stomachs happy.
Eli is a Christian, loves Jesus, and loves to serve. He has served kids in our own community, Mexicali and South Africa. Seeing him with kids from all around the world makes my heart so excited for him to be a dad. Eli is a homebody and teaches me to slow down and enjoy the little things in life. He is so patient with me and teaches me so much about being content with each life stage.
A note about Jana from Eli: Jana owns her own business as a wedding photographer. She is adventurous and loves to travel. She teaches me to get outside of my comfort zone and is the kindest person I have ever met. Thoughtfulness is second nature for her, and she is always available to talk or bring a small gift even if you did not ask for it.
Jana is a foodie like me, so whether it’s a new restaurant or a new recipe at home, she loves to eat. Exploring new places in the United States and around the world has been a lifelong passion for her. Some of her favorite places to visit are national parks. Yosemite, Joshua tree and Saguaro national park are all places where she feels most at home and at peace. Jana loves Jesus with her whole heart and shows it by serving in our community and missions near and far.
Our family: I have two sisters and two amazing parents that have been married for 35 years. Eli has two brothers and one sister, and parents who have been married for 30 years. We see both our families on a weekly to bi-monthly basis. When we get together with family we usually all cook together and then spend hours talking and laughing at the dinner table.
We always want more time with them as we just love them so much. We also have three amazing nephews on Eli’s side of the family whom we love to spoil. We are very connected with both families and both are very excited for us to adopt!
Eli and I live in Sonoma County, CA. We have been married five years now, and each year we fall more in love with each other. It’s so cheesy to say, but it’s so true. Eli turns 30 soon and I am 27 years old. I have wanted to adopt a child since I was 17 years old, and Eli has felt the same way for the past couple of years. We realize five paragraphs is not enough to tell you every part of our lives, so we are more than happy to share anything and everything with you face to face or over facetime.
We know that reading bios of so many families can feel overwhelming, so we thank you for taking the time to read ours. We want you to know you would be family to us and we have already been praying for you for years. We want to support you in whatever decision you make, and please know that you are so loved.
With all our love and respect,
Eli and Jana
